Ignorance is not a defense!
We receive many calls where clients will say, “I didn’t know I couldn’t do that.” Unfortunately under the law, ignorance is not a defense. For example, if you drive at 70 mph in a 55 mph zone, just because you did not know the speed limit you are still guilty. The most prudent course of action is to ask an attorney if there is something you are unsure of under the law. This rule of law is true in any area of law!
