I barely touched her, and now I got charged with domestic violence?

March 14, 2018

Under California law, if you intentionally or recklessly cause bodily injury to another or cause the reasonable apprehension of imminent serious bodily injury to another adult or minor you can be charged with domestic violence (CA Penal Code 13700-13702).  No one should abuse another person.  However, there are many cases where one person claims domestic violence against another falsely.  Depending on the severity of the crime, it can be charged as either a misdemeanor or felony.  If you do get charged with DV, please contact counsel immediately.  It is imperative that you address this and any criminal charge with competent counsel.
