What is a default divorce?

A default divorce is a divorce in which one party files for the divorce and the other party does not participate. Only one party needs to file the petition, and only one party needs to pay the filing fees to the court. In California, a divorce takes a minimum of six months to complete. If you file a default divorce, your divorce could be completed in six months and one day. This is a great type of divorce if you wish to save money, or if both parties are in agreement, or if your spouse cannot be found.
